Coal Mine Operator to Pay Back Pay

Nearly 700 people are supposed to get more than $192,000 in back pay from a coal mine operator accused of violating federal labor law.
The U.S. Department of Labor says Frasure Creek Mining incorrectly calculated overtime pay for 678 employees for nearly two years from January 2006 through December 2007.

Utah will receive $163,657 as the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration announced Tuesday more than $7.9 million in grants for fiscal 2007.

The Underground Mining Training Center at Montana Tech has closed after running out of cash.
