Coal Mine Road fire scoarches more than 100 acres

Soaring temperatures got even hotter Monday afternoon when a fire burned approximately 100 acres on Coal Mine Road, destroying a recreational vehicle and an out building.
No structures were destroyed other than the out building. However, there were occasional homes threatened “off and on,” a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman said.

Explosion in Chinese coal mine: at least 11 miners killed

Ninety-six people were working in the Shuidong Coal Mine in Hebei province’s Yuxian County at the time of the 5:30 a.m. (1930 GMT Sunday) blast, the official Xinhua News Agency said. It said 79 escaped.
