Bolivia seals $2.1bn mining deal

Bolivia’s state-run Empresa Siderurgica Mutunhas has signed a $2.1bn (£1bn) deal with Indian firm Jindal Power & Steel to mine large deposits of iron.
President Evo Morales said the deal marked the largest foreign investment the central South American country.

Sally Malay boosts annual nickel output by 17 pct

Australia’s Sally Malay Mining Ltd. said on Tuesday its output of contained nickel rose 17 percent in 2006/07 to 13,255 tonnes, while a ramp-up in production to more than 20,000 tonnes a year remained on track.
