Developer signs coal lease

OAKLAND - The developer of the proposed coal-to-diesel plant in the Oakland area has signed a lease to mine local coal to supply the plant.

Coal company pleads guilty to safety violation

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A subsidiary of Richmond-based Massey Energy faces a fine of up to 200-thousand dollars after pleading guilty to failing to perform a safety examination at a West Virginia coal mine.
